As discussed in prior blog posts, I believe there is an opportunity out there in the makeup industry. The product that would resolve the problem of wasting almost an entire tube of waterproof mascara because you only need use it once or twice before the whole tube is no longer good. The product I am suggesting is a waterproof overcoat to put over your everyday mascara. The customer would be able to purchase the product and could use it on those rare occasions when they know it is needed. My product would also last longer than the average tube of mascara so that purchasing the tube of overcoat would be a better alternative to purchasing a tube of waterproof mascara. Though not all the consumers I interviewed believed that it was a dire need, they each said they would be interested in trying my potential product, giving me the momentum I desired to push forward with my answer to this problem.
Hey Laura! I think it would be cool to learn the chemistry behind longer longevity in a perishable cosmetic product’s shelf life. Maybe you could extend the life expectancy of the waterproof overcoat, but even if that fails, you could maybe just sell them in smaller containers and sell them for cheaper. That way, people who use makeup don’t have to feel bad when throwing away unused excess and they don’t have to carry around that much extra spare weight in their makeup bags. Just an idea :)
ReplyDeleteLaura,
ReplyDeleteI think your product would save women a lot of hassle and theres always a market for something that makes life easier. Simoli's comment above regarding the smaller packaging also sounds like an interesting idea to consider. Overall. I feel like you found a solution to an opportunity that you found.
